Snowdon Mountain Challenge

Snowdon or Yr Wyddfa as it is known in Wales, stands at 1085m (3560ft) and is the highest mountain in Wales and England.  It is famous for having a trainline to the summit and a café.  But that doesn’t mean that it is an easy mountain to climb!

We will climb from Pen-Y-Pass to the summit by the Pyg Track, have a short break at the summit then descend by the Llanberis Path to Llanberis.  That is around 8 miles of walking, over 2000ft of climbing and will take around 6 to 8 hours!  No mean feat I am sure you will agree.

For this walk, we are using our very own PSU Domestic Abuse Support Worker and qualified mountain leader, Dave Ascough.  Dave will provide a safe and enjoyable (maybe with hindsight) walk to the summit and he will support you every step of the way, telling tales of the mountain’s history, geology and folklore. He also has a ready supply of Haribo.

The walk is suitable for anyone who is reasonably fit and can walk continuously for 6 hours.  The terrain is on steep rocky paths and may be subject to adverse weather – It is Wales after all.

Sorry but we can’t take dogs on this occasion.

The Snowdon Mountain Railway only sell return tickets from Llanberis so it is not possible to walk up and train down without purchasing a return ticket in advance.
